A campaign to promote career opportunities in Hull’s social care sector launches this week. Working in partnership with Hull City Council and social care providers across the city, Proud to Care Hull spotlights the rewarding opportunities in adult social care in Hull and provides advice for people looking to begin or further their career in the sector.
The initiative includes the launch of a new website – www.proudtocarehull.co.uk – which details current vacancies in adult social care across the city as well as guidance for job seekers looking for their first or next move in the sector. The site also includes updates of relevant events and highlights training and education opportunities. The campaign is supported with social media activity and at poster sites across the city to promote adult social care as a meaningful and rewarding career.
Proud to Care is a national campaign to promote career opportunities in the social care sector with Hull the latest local authority to adopt and support the campaign.
Councillor Gwen Lunn, Portfolio Holder for Adult Services and Public Health said:
“Support and healthcare workers have the potential to make a massive difference to someone’s life. This can make it a very rewarding and fulfilling job, providing a real sense of achievement that’s difficult to experience elsewhere.
“There are many rewarding jobs in adult social care and the Proud to Care Hull website is now the place to find these opportunities. This new website will provide residents in Hull and beyond with a one-stop-shop for job vacancies, events and advice for people interested in working in adult social care.”
Led by Hull City Council, the initiative is supported across the city with local service providers joining as Proud to Care Champions to help raise awareness of Hull’s adult social care sector and existing opportunities.

“Proud to Care Hull is a great initiative, encouraging people to look at care as a career. The new website helps show how fulfilling a career in care can be, with real-life staff testimonies. It also helps show the variety of different roles and career pathways that are available for people looking to start or further their career in adult social care. From apprenticeships to day and night staff jobs, from trained positions to roles that don’t require experience as full training will be given, there is something for everyone.”
The Proud to Care Hull website also provides insight into what it’s like to work in adult social care featuring stories from people working in the industry.
Kelly Hall is a Care Coordinator for Voyage Care. She began working for the company 12 years ago as an Apprentice Support Worker.
Kelly said: “I wasn’t sure initially that working in the Health and Social Care sector was for me, as I was very young when I started the job. But the support and training opportunities the company provided me with have helped me to develop my confidence, knowledge and skills.
“Working in this sector has really changed my life for the better. Being a Care Coordinator also gives me the flexibility and support to be able to carry out my role full time whilst still having quality family time. I love to spend time with my family and see Voyage Care as my extended family. I still get to support and be around the people we support, which just gives immense job satisfaction and a sense of pride.”
Kelly works in adult social care and says that working in the sector has “changed her life for the better.”
