Small charity Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity (YBTC) is pleased to be expanding its support to offer a brand new drop-in group in Hull.

The Drop-In Café will take place at Crafty Cat Events in Anlaby on the first Tuesday of the month, starting on Tuesday 7th June. Patients and their families are invited to come along any time between 11am and 1pm for some friendly, informal support.

Led by a member of the charity’s support team, the drop-in is a chance to chat, ask questions, enjoy refreshments and meet others in a similar situation.

YBTC’s other drop-ins which currently take place monthly in Leeds, Wakefield and Doncaster have been well received so far. One attendee said: “The drop-in feels like a real safe space where I can just be me. I find it really helpful to talk to people who have shared experiences. I am so pleased that I decided to give it a chance and I plan to make them a regular part of what I do from now on.”

Marie Peacock, CEO of Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity, said: “Brain tumours turn lives upside down. We know how important it is for patients, carers and loved ones to speak to other people who really understand, so we are delighted to be able to launch this new monthly drop-in where people can do just that. We want to ensure we are reaching everyone impacted by a brain tumour in the region, so we’re thrilled that patients and families across the Hull area will be able to access our support.”

The new Hull drop-in has been made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, as part of the charity’s project to introduce even more forms of support. The charity will also be offering a Wellbeing Walk in Hull in the summer months.
