Hull shoppers headed to Anlaby Retail Park this weekend to check out one of the first standalone George stores in the country. It’s only the second of its kind in the UK, following a successful pilot in Leeds earlier this year, and marks Asda’s move to give George its own dedicated stores focused purely on clothing and homeware.
The store officially opened on Friday 31 October, with a special event on Saturday to celebrate. The first 100 shoppers received a free candle, a brass band performed outside, and visitors got the chance to step inside the Cyclone booth to win vouchers to spend in-store. At 11am, Hull KR players joined the George team to cut the ribbon and present a cheque to the Hull KR Foundation, adding to the atmosphere of the day.
Inside, the new store feels bright and modern, showcasing expanded clothing collections for men, women and kids alongside a spacious home department filled with interiors, garden and lifestyle pieces. Shoppers also got a first look at the brand-new Christmas range, featuring standout partywear, cosy nightwear, festive decorations, and the Erica Davies gifting collection.
It’s a big moment for Hull retail, as the store replaces the older Asda Living format and brings a completely refreshed shopping experience for George fans across East Yorkshire.
