First up is Double B’s on Hedon Road. Hull bloke Dom spent years grafting in takeaways before finally opening his own spot earlier this year – serving the kind of food he’s always loved. The menu’s packed with stone-baked pizzas made fresh each day by a Napoli-trained chef, and burgers made with ribeye steak!
You’ll find loaded fries, nachos, kebabs, wraps, hot dogs, and big munch boxes with a bit of everything, too. And if you fancy something sweet, try a Jammy Dodger or Cherry Bakewell milkshake – or even a chocolate calzone!
Next up is Korna Grill on Paragon Street – a small, family-run spot in the city centre that’s easy to walk past but well worth popping in. It’s named after the corner it sits on, and while it looks modest from the outside, the food inside is incredible.
Their Thrones – burgers made with soft toasted bread instead of buns – are really unique and full of flavour. The loaded fries and wings are amazing too, cooked just right with sauces ranging from sweet Korean to fiery Nashville. The Biscoff, Oreo, and Strawberry shakes are a nice finish, and there are mix boxes and kids’ meals too, making it a good all-rounder for families.
And finally, Regano Pizzeria & Grill on Newland Avenue is a brand-new Mediterranean-inspired takeaway bringing together pizzas, pasta, grilled meats, seafood, and fresh salads, all made to order.
The fried halloumi with sweet chilli dip is spot on, and the coriander chilli chicken pizza has plenty of flavour without being overdone. The mixed grill box for two is ideal if you’re hungry, with skewers of chicken, lamb, beef, and kofta alongside gyros, halloumi, and salad. Even the house salad stands out – fresh, colourful, and full of texture.
So if you’re looking for Hull’s newest places for proper comfort food, these spots are well worth a try.
