Hull Training and Adult Education (HTAE) has secured over £2m in government funding, promising higher-paying job opportunities and guaranteed interviews for Hull’s residents. The funding will significantly boost the Skills Bootcamps in HGV, Highways Maintenance, and Groundworks, with £222,425 already earmarked for these sectors.
HTAE, in collaboration with other service providers, will effectively utilize the remaining funds to foster job growth in Hull. The scheme is committed to creating connections with prospective employers to offer sustainable employment opportunities.
21 diverse projects, from telecommunications to construction and joinery, have already benefited from the funding. The next phase of projects will kick off on 1 August 2023, extending until 31 March 2024. HTAE will administer these contracts on behalf of the Hull & East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
Skills Bootcamps not only provide adults with access to essential training for in-demand skills but also assure interviews for better-paying jobs. Additionally, these bootcamps will aid employers in filling specific skills gaps, thereby enhancing their productivity.
Cllr Linda Tock, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder with responsibility for Hull Training, praised the government’s continued financial support. The additional funding will allow HTAE to offer more Skills Bootcamps, equipping candidates with necessary skills and addressing the staffing needs of local businesses.
