The 11 Best Events Available Online This Week

Things might be looking up, but there’s still a way to go before in-person events are back on around Hull. In the meantime, there’s still some pretty decent online events you can enjoy at home that give you a break from the usual TV. Check these out!

Rachel Parris & Marcus Brigstocke’s Tuesday Night Club

Tuesday 9 March, 8pm

Rachel Parris is an award-winning musical comedian and standup who has appeared in The IT Crowd, Murder In Successville, The Mash Report and Austentatious.

Rachel will be joined by Marcus Brigstocke for their world-renowned Lip Sync Battles. And, there’s the usual fannying about from MC James Gill and the ABC front row.

LIVE at the ZOO: Paradise Wildlife Park

Wednesday 10 March, 11am

If you’ve still got a little one or two at home, or even if you just love animals, Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire are doing a 15 minute live- stream from the zoo with interesting facts and fun about the animals.

It’s completely free – they’ll be live on Facebook and YouTube

Always Be Comedy: Pete Firman & Glenn Moore

Wednesday 10 March, 8pm

Pete Firman is a comedian and magician. You might have seen him on the telly in Channel 4’s ‘Dirty Tricks’, five’s ‘Monkey Magic’ and Sky One’s ‘The Secret World of Magic’. He has travelled the world performing his own brand of anarchic magic and now you can catch him performing live.

He’ll be joined on the Zoom by Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Glenn Moore who is a regular face on Mock The Week (BBC), Rob Delaney’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central) and The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV2).

Stephen Fry and Jonathan Biss on Beethoven

Thursday 11 March, 7pm

This is the online streaming of a pre-recorded event. which was recorded with the 92ndStY in New York in February 2021. Stephen Fry joins renowned pianist and musical thinker Jonathan Biss to discuss Biss’s moving new audio book Unquiet: My Life with Beethoven.

Fry and Biss engage in thoughtful and candid dialogue about their personal experiences as entertainers, and the extent to which having mental health issues might have contributed to — and been exacerbated by — their decisions to become performers.

Virtual Tour – Castles Around London

Friday 12 March, 8pm – 9pm

London is home to one of the most famous castles in the world – The Tower of London. However the Tower is not the only castle you can visit in the London area.

Rob Smith will take you on a virtual tour, telling you about twelve more castles that are about an hour or less from London.

The Friends Virtual Live Quiz

Saturday 13 March, 8pm – 10pm

How well do you know Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler, Monica and Joey? Well this live zoom quiz will really put your knowledge to the test and if you really think you’re the biggest fan of Friends, there’s a cash prize up for grabs of £50 too.

Hull Comedy Lounge – Saturday Night Live Stream

Hull’s full-time comedy club has been hit hard during the pandemic like many other venues. They’re now streaming live comedians direct from George Street on Saturday night’s to keep you entertained. This Saturday’s line-up looks like a belter!

Freedom Festival & Hull Truck Present: White Rabbit, Red Rabbit

Saturday 13 March, 8pm

Two of our local arts organisations, Freedom Festival and Hull Truck have got together to bring you this internationally renowned play – White Rabbit, Red Rabbit – performed online.

With no rehearsal, no director, a different actor each night, and a script waiting in a sealed envelope on stage, internationally acclaimed White Rabbit, Red Rabbit by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour, is a potent reminder of the transgressive and transformative power of theatre.

Hull Minster Mother’s Day Worship Service

A Virtual Tour of Sistine Chapel

Monday 15 March, 9am

This is a tremendously exciting new weekly show starring the people’s champion: Al Murray. If Monday night is traditionally quiz night, think of this as a very Al Murray take on proceedings. There’ll be comedy (standard), topical material (oooh!), an interactive quiz (zoinks!) and there’ll even be a guest spot (ooh la la!).
