This quirky little café tucked away in Bridlington’s Old Town is the kind of place you’ll want to keep coming back to – with proper locally roasted coffee, great food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
This is Rhapsody Coffee & Company, a small independent café right in the heart of Brid’s most historic area. It’s the passion project of owner Chris, who spent years working in children’s homes before finally deciding to follow a long-held dream of creating a space where people could come together over good coffee and good conversation. In 2019, that dream became reality.
When Chris first picked up the keys to the old shop on Valentine’s Day, the place had been empty for years and was in a pretty sorry state. But with a lot of hard work – most of it done by hand between shifts – it was transformed into the cosy, friendly hangout it is today. And true to its name, Rhapsody is all about two things: excellent coffee and genuine company.
The words “Coffee & Company” were etched into the window from day one and have become something of a mission statement. Regulars travel from all over Yorkshire to relax here, chat with the team, and soak up the laid-back vibe, and even if you’re on your own, you’ll never feel like a stranger.
The menu is simple but spot-on, serving up all the classics – rich, locally roasted coffees, loose leaf teas, indulgent hot chocolates, refreshing frappes and coolers – alongside “banging” toasties, homemade soup, and a tempting range of cakes. There’s even a bookshelf stocked with titles by local authors for you to browse or buy while you enjoy your brew.
So whether you’re catching up with friends, popping in for a quick caffeine fix, or just want a cosy corner to sit and watch the world go by, Rhapsody is a little gem that always feels like home.
