The world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra get dressed up for their return to Hull New Theatre next weekend – as part of The Prologue Series: A Covid Safe Season.

An NHS worker on the flute, Superman on the bassoon and an astronaut on the trombone will line-up alongside Darth Vader as part of the orchestra’s Noisy Kids: Heroes & Villains concert on 19 June.

Audiences are encouraged to grab their own costumes and get the Noisy Kids dressed up for an epic superhero battle against some dastardly villains – yep that’ll be Darth Vader – in this thrilling family concert, packed with tales of caped crusaders, engaging activities and well-known tunes.

This interactive and immersive brings orchestral music to life and the eight astounding musicians will play an amazing set, which includes Grieg’s exhilarating In the Hall of the Mountain King (from Peer Gynt), Rimsky-Korsakov’s scurrying Flight of the Bumblebee, Delibes’ superb Flower Duet (from Lakmé) and much more during the two shows, which will take place at 10.30am and 2.30pm.

They will be led by brave presenter Tim Steiner, who tells the story of Heroes & Villains, and introduces both the different instruments in the octet and the pieces of music.

All the performances in The Prologue Series: A Covid Safe Season  will be produced in-line with the latest Government advice to ensure the venue is Covid-safe for our valued patrons, visiting touring companies, performers and staff.
