Sewerby Squirrels sessions – designed for under 5s and their grown-ups – return on Monday, 12 September, taking place on Monday mornings during term time, between 10-11.30am in the Orangery at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
Books and sensory resources are there every week to enjoy, alongside themed activities inspired by Edwardian life, Amy Johnson, the gardens and the seaside at the popular East Coast location.
There are also engaging opportunities to experience the past, explore the house and gardens, and to get crafty!
On Monday, 12 September, the Edwardian tea party takes place, with a chance to share role play with tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits, and fruit, and enjoy other food-themed activities.
It is a sea-themed craft session on Monday, 19 September, where participants can enjoy beach-themed play and make their very own starfish to take home.
Monday, 26 September sees a garden explorers session – an opportunity to explore the gardens together, hunting for colours.
Taking place on Monday, 3 October is Edwardian cleaning. This is a chance to use a dolly tub, beat a carpet, polish brass, and have fun playing with bubbles (weather dependant).
A week later, on Monday, 10 October, the Amy Johnson themed craft session takes place, with participants having the chance to make their own paper helicopter and watch it fly.
The last session before the autumn half-term is on Monday, 17 October, with Beach Explorers – a session to enjoy sand play, dressing up and other beach-themed activities.
Lucy Cooke, under 5s learning coordinator for East Riding of Yorkshire Museums Service, said: “We’re really looking forward to the return this autumn of our Sewerby Squirrels sessions, where there is no need to book – just turn up!”
