St Stephen’s is welcoming visitors back today as country moves into Step 2 of the roadmap out of lockdown.

Visitors have flocked to Hull city centre this morning to finally get inside non-essential stores such as TK Maxx, JD Sports and Next which have now reopened their doors once again, as well as the centre’s brow bar.

A selection of restaurants and cafés such as Café Nero and Starbucks are also open for outdoor dining, while others including Nando’s and Burger King will continue to offer a takeaway service for shoppers to enjoy at home.

To help keep everybody safe, the centre will continue to have its one way ‘keep left’ system, hand sanitising stations and enhanced cleaning regimes in place. All visitors must wear a face covering unless exempt for medical reasons.

Visitor numbers will be carefully managed to make sure everyone can maintain social distancing. If the centre or any of the stores become particularly busy, visitors may be asked to queue considerately in a designated area outside.

Jim Harris, centre manager at St Stephen’s, said: “We know many of our customers are very excited about the reopening, and we are equally as excited to welcome them back. It’s also a massive milestone for our retailers, and we’re looking forward to them opening their doors once again.

“It’s of course really important that we all continue to work together to help keep everybody safe. Everyone visiting us in the coming weeks can expect to see all of our extra safety measures still in place, and our team will be on the ground helping to remind customers of the Government guidance.”
