The best events around Hull & East Yorkshire this week | 18 Jan – 24 Jan 2023

As we push through January and the trials & tribulations of our city’s icy weather, it’s the perfect time to head to a venue and warm up with a drink and some entertainment.

We’ve put together another collection of events and shows, from comedy and theatre to music and exhibitions, and even some outdoor adventures and more, so have a look!

Varna International Ballet & Orchestra Giselle

Wednesday 18 Jan @ Hull New Theatre

The most poignant of all classical ballets is filled with dramatic passion in a chilling and heart-rending tale of love, treachery, and forgiveness from beyond the grave. The moving story of delicate Giselle and her aristocratic but duplicitous lover Albrecht is set to a glorious score.

From the visual splendour of the rustic villagers happily gathering the harvest at the story’s start to the eerie moonlit forest haunted by beautifully drifting spirits, this production is unforgettable.

Susan Santos @ Wrecking Ball

Thursday 19 Jan @ Wrecking Ball Arts Centre

This event may have been cancelled, contact Wrecking Ball at sales@wreckingabllstore.co.uk or 01482 214941 for more information.

Susan Santos’s distinctive voice and appealing guitar style, along with her strong stage presence, are very refreshing in the contemporary blues scene of the 21st Century! Susan won The Best Musician Performance 2018 in the European Blues Awards, and was nominated for Texas Sounds Music Awards in 2019.

A great passion for music led Susan Santos to learn how to play the guitar and sing. Step by step, the lefty guitarist and singer was creating her own songs and her particular style of understanding music.
