The best events around Hull & East Yorkshire this week | 8 Mar – 14 Mar 2023

We’ve got yet another bundle of events to keep you busy this week as we settle into March. There are musical offerings aplenty, from tribute bands such as Total Rex, to performances such as Hull Chamber Music presenting Hannah Condliffe.

Days out such as the Digitally Different Photography Exhibition and Rediscovering Ferens exhibition are on too, and don’t miss the chance to try a delicious Espresso Martini for 20% off at The Bar at 55!

As always, we simply can’t fit everything – so make sure you check our events listings for all the upcoming entertainment in Hull!

Digitally Different Photography Exhibition

Wednesday 8 Mar @ Hedon Museum

HEDON VIEWFINDERS presents the Digitally Different FREE Photography Exhibition at the Hedon Museum, which opens on Wednesday, March 8 at 10 am and then opens every Saturday and Wednesday from 10 am – 4 pm until Saturday, April 29.

Our youngest exhibitor is 13 years old and our oldest is in his 90’s. Photography really is for everyone,” continued Ray, “and the club exists to encourage people on their own photographic journeys of discovery.”

“The exhibition comprises a collection of photographs that the club is proud of, and we hope they serve to inspire many visitors, both young and old, to get out with their cameras and phones to take more and better photographs.”

Rhys James: Spilt Milk

Wednesday 8 Mar @ Hull City Hall

Rhys James is right back where he belongs: on tour around the country, with a markedly different schedule to Chelsea’s fixture list to prove he is not the footballer.

Since then he’s released a third, ARIA-nominated, Radio 4 series; starred in The Great American Joke Off for US network The CW; and been hurled through the air on a bungee cord by Micah Richards on A League Of Their Own.

Also seen on Richard Osman’s House Of Games, Celebrity Mastermind, and Pointless Celebrities.

Rediscovering Ferens | Identity

Friday 10 Mar @ Ferens Art Gallery

The Rediscovering Ferens | Identity project is a collaboration between the Ferens Art Gallery and young people from The Warren and Future Ferens. In late 2022 and early 2023, the Rediscovering group explored what identity means to them, to communities in Hull, and how our multiple, fluid identities are represented by art in the Ferens collection.

The group has worked collaboratively with a curator to choose items from the collection, to co-produce an exhibition that will also feature new works created in response to the themes of Identity.
