The best things to do in Hull with the kids this February Half Term

It can be hard to know what to do in the February Half Term. More often than not, it seems to come out of nowhere, and as a result many parents are left scrambling for local events, plans and activities.

Fortunately, here at Hull What’s On we have a fantastic list of local events (including free activities) which are sure to be perfect for any family seeking something fun and educational this February Half Term! If you’re struggling to find suitable plans this week, our guide to local events might just help you out!

FREE February Half Term activities and events

Ferens Art Gallery and many of Hull’s fantastic museums are hosting a number of free, family-friendly activities this February Half Term- all of which are free and do not require booking.

February 14th– Mini Masterpieces: Crowns and Jewels at Ferens Art Gallery, 10am-12noon, fun and creative art activities for those under the age of 5.

February 15th– Make Your Own Mini Trinket Box at Ferens Art Gallery, 1.30pm-3.30pm, perfect for those seeking something fun and creative!

February 18th– Make Your Own Bus at Hull’s Streetlife Museum, 1pm-3pm, the perfect way to engage the kids in one of Hull’s cultural landmarks!

Active Coast Sand and Stone Art Workshops- FREE creative sessions

February 15th– Withernsea, HU19 2DW, 1.30-4.30pm.

February 16th– Bridlington, YO15 2LY, 11am-4.30pm.

February 17th– Hornsea, HU18 1QD, 10am-1pm.

The Avenues Fairy Trail

February 11th-19th– explore Hull’s scenic avenues in search of fairies! This is a family-friendly outdoor activity with plenty of room for adventure and excitement! Maps for the Fairy Trail are available in Pearson Park.

East Riding Libraries- Lego Club Sessions and Storytime activities

East Riding Libraries are hosting free Lego Club sessions this Half Term for children aged 4 to 16 years!

February 7th-18th– Free Storytimes and Bounce and Rhyme sessions are also available, including Creatures Bounce and Rhyme and The Snail and the Whale Storytime.

Sewerby Hall and Gardens- free entrance and zoo events

This February Half Term, Sewerby Hall and Gardens are permitting free entrance to their grounds, gardens and play area! Additionally, an event is being held at their zoo on February 17th, giving visitors the chance to meet donkeys, llamas and goats!

In addition to those mentioned above, there are tonnes of fantastic events and activities being held this February Half Term, including days out at The Deep, Little Monkeys and Hull Truck Theatre!

Hull Truck Theatre and Hull New Theatre- fantastic half-term productions for young children!

Hull Truck Theatre- Tortoise and the Hare

February 16th-18th– Tortoise and The Hare, a fantastic Half-Term show, shows at 10am and 1pm each day. It includes a fantastic arts and crafts session and is followed by an exciting interactive performance. This is the perfect opportunity to engage the kids in something creative, fun and educational all at once!

Hull New Theatre- Ugly Duckling

February 18th– This Half-Term, Northern Ballet presents Ugly Duckling, an unmissable theatrical experience! Running at 2pm and 4pm, this is a fantastic family-friendly production full of talent, creativity and emotion.

Crafty Cat Play Cafe- craft activities and Little Kitties play area

The Crafty Cat Play Cafe, located in Anlaby Common, have their Little Kitties play area open for 0-6 year olds daily.

Additionally, for children 6 and above, there are a number of craft activities and events to get involved in, including Play with Clay, Junk Modelling and a Slime Workshop!

Jump Inc Beverley- ninja assault course and Half-Term offers

Beverley’s outstanding indoor play area, Jump Inc, have some fantastic Half Term offers currently running! Furthermore, they have a newly opened ninja assault course! Affordable, fun-filled and full of adventure, Jump Inc is the perfect Half Term day out for parents seeking something exciting for their children!

Little Monkeys- Half-Term Disco Party

February 15th– Little Monkeys are running an unmissable Half Term Disco Party from 1-4pm. This is an exciting afternoon and early evening event- affordable, fun and interactive, what’s not to love?

The Deep- Turtle Hospital event

February 11th-19th– A true Hull landmark, The Deep are running an exciting Half Term activity called Turtle Hospital, through which visitors can help nurse turtles and learn everything there is to know about these fascinating creatures!

Sledmere House & Gardens- Snowdrop trail and scavenger hunt

February 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th– scenic Snowdrop trail, a nature-filled and exciting activity for all the family! Additionally, there is a scavenger hunt ongoing throughout the week!

One of the local area’s most outstanding establishments, Coletta & Tyson, are running a number of unmissable Half-Term offers in their toy department and fantastic café!
