Spring is finally upon us and with it comes a whole season of events and activities happening across the city. Hull’s premier venues are playing host to some of the world’s biggest and best known names in music this spring and you can see them perform live in the comfort of your own city. Here are the ones we’re looking out for…

Bastille

Friday 1 April 2022 @ Bonus Arena

Bastille announced two new dates to the first leg of the ‘Give Me The Future’ tour 2022 – including a date at Hull Bonus Arena. The dates join a headline run of shows across major cities including London’s The O2, Manchester AO Arena and Birmingham O2 Academy .The shows will give fans the opportunity to hear the band’s hugely anticipated fourth album, Give Me The Future for the first time live.

Dan Smith says, “We’re all massively excited to head out on tour with this new album that we love. After everything that’s happened over the last couple of years, we’re buzzing to play for everyone at these brilliant venues and can’t wait to have some fun back on the road again… here’s to gigging in 2022.”

Paul Weller

Wednesday 6 April 2022 @ Bonus Arena

Paul Weller is bringing his UK tour to the Bonus Arena, Hull. The Jam and Style Council legend’s recently announced May tour has already sold out, so Paul Weller will get back on the road to play a further 19 dates across the UK and Ireland.

Paul’s eagerly awaited new album “On Sunset” will be released on June 12th. “On Sunset” will be Paul’s first release for his new label Polydor.

Saving Grace featuring Robert Plant and Suzi Dian

Thursday 14 April 2022 @ Hull City Hall

Saving Grace, the co-operative featuring Robert Plant and Suzi Dian (vocals), Oli Jefferson (percussion), Tony Kelsey (mandolin, baritone, acoustic guitar), and Matt Worley (banjo, acoustic, baritone guitars, cuatro), will play Hull City Hall later this year.

Since forming in 2019, Saving Grace have been acclaimed for their live shows with glowing reviews from Bob Harris who called it “One of the best gigs I’ve seen in years” through to Toni Woodward, from ‘Americana UK’ who perfectly summed up the ethos of the cooperative by saying: “…These five musicians have produced a supreme ninety minutes of music with considered interpretations of others’ compositions, ensuring they present an innovative exploration of the songs whilst maintaining their true essence. Furthermore, this odyssey has been undertaken in the spirit of appreciation, musicianship, and exultation: they truly are a band of joy!”.

They will be joined by special guest Scott Matthews.

Heather Small

Saturday 16 April 2022 @ Hull City Hall

As Part of M People, hits such as ‘Moving On Up’, ‘One Night In Heaven’ and ‘Search For The Hero’ and albums like Elegant Slumming, Bizarre Fruit and Fresco achieving massive worldwide success, Heather became one of the seminal British voices of the 1990s, with the band winning the Best British Dance Act Award at the Brits in 1994 and 1995, as well as the Mercury Music Prize for Elegant Slumming.

Heather has since had great successes with two solo albums – the title track of her ‘Proud’ album has gone on to become the soundtrack to a whole host of very special events including London’s successful 2012 Olympic bid, the 60th anniversary of VE Day in Trafalgar Square, the launch of Queen Mary 2, the Tsunami Relief Concert, England’s victory at the Rugby World Cup celebrations, and the official ceremony marking the handover of the Olympic Games from Beijing to London.

Foals

Monday 25 April 2022 @ Bonus Arena

Foals are on tour this April…and this includes a date at the Bonus Arena, Hull on Monday, 25 April!

In 2019, Foals’ two-part album ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost’ took them to new heights with their first #1 on the Official Album Charts and BRIT Award for Best Group. Two years on, the band have released ‘Wake Me Up’ – a first taste of their eagerly anticipated new album which will follow in 2022.

Marti Pellow

Monday 25 April 2022 @ Hull New Theatre

Following on from his hugely popular ‘Lockdown Sessions’, a series of social media performances, the former Wet Wet Wet frontman takes his greatest hits on the road.

Marti explains; “Throughout lockdown I was inundated by beautiful messages from fans asking me to please organise a tour once we come out of these terrible times. 12 million people tuned in for the lockdown sessions and each one of you have inspired me to make this tour happen. I wanted to put together a show that would celebrate all the wonderful music throughout my career and that I – and I know all of you – fell in love with again through the sessions.

UB40

Monday 23 May 2022 @ Bonus Arena

Iconic English reggae band UB40 will be taking to the road this winter for their highly-anticipated ‘Bigga Baggariddim Tour 2021’, with a mammoth 24 dates across the UK and Ireland from 19 November – 22 December 2021. The nationwide tour will kickstart an exciting new UB40 era, as Matt Doyle, former lead singer of fellow Birmingham reggae band KIOKO, will make his UB40 tour debut as the band’s new lead singer, making it a must-attend event for any UB40 lover. 

The ‘Bigga Baggariddim Tour’ promises to be a true UB40 fest, launching the band’s new era with a celebration of their timeless classics and fan favourites, alongside their latest material. Fans will be treated to a set list full of unparalleled smashes, including Food For Thought, Kingston Town, (I Can’t Help) Falling in Love With You and Red, Red Wine, amongst many others, alongside songs from ‘For The Many’ and the new collaboration album ‘Bigga Baggariddim’.

Bryan is one of the most exciting live musicians in the world and his energetic performance, effortless stage presence and incredible vocals are guaranteed to thrill and entertain.

His song writing has garnered him numerous awards and accolades including three Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe nominations and a Grammy Award and he is known for hits such as Summer of 69 and Everything I Do (I Do It For you).
