The New Adelphi Club in Hull has won a top national award at the Music Week Annual Awards Ceremony, which recognises brilliance across the entire spectrum of the music industry across the UK. The event took place last night, Thursday May 26th 2022, at Battersea Evolution London, hosted by Munya Chawawa.
The UK Grassroots Venue of the Year Award was an award open to a public vote and supported by the Music Venue Trust. The Adelphi was voted best grassroots venue in the UK against highly respected opposition including, Night & Day Café Manchester, Rescue Rooms Nottingham, Sneaky Pete’s Edinburgh, The Boileroom Guildford to name only a few.
Paul Jackson said: “We are humbled to receive such a prestigious award and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone nationwide who voted for our small 200 capacity community music venue in Hull.
“We would like to thank Music Week, Music Venue Trust and all the artists, promoters and music lovers who have supported the converted terraced house that is The New Adelphi Club over the last 38 years.
“Big love goes out to all the grassroots venues around the UK who perform such a valuable service to the music industry and yet struggle from week to week for survival. Well done to all the other contenders in this category it is an honour to be in your company”.
