Top 10 things to do in and around Hull this half term

This half term, get ready for your usual break and the chance to explore all of Hull’s fantastic and fun activities. Plus, there will also be lots of spooky events that will definitely get you in the mood for Halloween this weekend!

Lost City Adventure Golf

Everyone loves Hull’s very own indoor adventure golf course, based in St Stephen’s Shopping Centre. They have two fantastic 18 hole courses- Cobra Canyon and Snake River. Not only are they suitably named and decorated for the holiday, but this Halloween they will be having a very special celebration.

On the weekend of 30 – 31 October, Lost City Adventure Course will provide free enterance to some of the best-dressed, so you’d better start planning your costume! Also, the Tiki Bar will be serving some seasonal additions to the menu. You can try their Toffee Apple Waffles and their Pumpkin Spiced Latte, or you might prefer a Witches Brew cocktail.

Rock Up

Another one of Hull’s classic half term destinations is Rock Up, a place where the family can enjoy being active together. They have twenty-six different climbing frames that are suitable for all ages and experience, as well as a soft play and space to watch, if you’d rather keep your feet on the ground.

You can book online in advance and save £1, or pay in person. They have different sessions that might be more suitable for you, such as a toddlers session or a SEN and autism friendly session.

Maritime Tales

This half term also signifies the Maritime Tales Week 2021, running from 23 – 30 October. The city’s seafaring history will be celebrated through poetry workshops, crafts, historical talks and music. You can also be a part of the Maritime Riddle Trail, which you can find out more about here, and they have all been written by Joanna Walsh in partnership with Humber Mouth.

Jump Inc

Located in Flemingate, Beverley, Jump Inc is 20,000 square feet of inflatable playground. It is fun for all ages. You will be bouncing of the walls with the double decker section, wavy slides, the biggest ball pool in the UK, so much more!

Plus, they are going to be having a huge Halloween party on 29 October, 5 PM – 7 PM. You can get dressed up in your favourite Halloween costume (with the theme of black magic) and you can expect prizes for the best dressed, live perfomance from a magician and the best music to enjoy bouncing to.

Pumpkin Carving

All this week, Butt Farm in Beverley is open from 10 AM – 4 PM every day for you to find your perfect pumpkin. As well as their pumpkin patch, they also have a spooky trail, a competition where you can win a family weekend glamping in one of the farm’s new wagons, pumpkin carving kits, and refreshments.

You don’t have to pre-book and entrance is free!

Northwood Fairy Sanctuary

Northwood Fairy Sanctuary is a unique attraction and is run by the creative Van Outersteps family, who wanted to create a natural experience that appealed to adults and children equally. They provide a magical event that will capture your imagination.

This Halloween, the sanctuary is offering a seasonal experience with guided lantern walks, storytelling from Professor Howland’s fairy histories and mytholgies, and then you can enjoy the Autumn grotto, the fairy museum and the Northwood kitchen bar.

Paint Fight

In Hessle Community Centre, you can celebrate Halloween in a brutally fun way! Your Tribe is a Newcastle-based paint fight business, and one of its first events in Hull will be this Saturday 30 October, with four different time slots to choose from. This will be an incredibly messy activity, so make sure you bring a change of clothes! The paint is also water based and non-toxic, so it will wash out of skin and hair with hot soapy water.

Stockeld Park

Another wonderful place to go during the holiday, Stockeld Park is a little further away but it is full of activities that you will enjoy! In your Halloween entry ticket, you get to enjoy all of the park’s year-round attractions, such as The Enchanted Forest, The Magical Maze, their adventure Tangle Tree Climb, the farm-themed playground, and so much more!

Plus, they have some additional attractions exclusive for this half term. You can climb through nets, tunnels and go down the zip wire in the Spider’s Lair, wander through their brand new Skeleton Trail, do some pumpkin picking and look out for Witches in the Forest! They also have two new escape houses which you can book seperately for £20 per person.

William’s Den

This half term, you can have some wicked fun with William’s Den and their natural play area which is inside a barn that gives a beautiful view of the Yorkshire Wolds. There are unlimited activities for kids to enjoy inside and outside too. They have a fantastic Adventure Playscape full of hay bales and a new mini assault course. You can also enjoy the Autumn with their peaceful Woodland Walks. They also have The Kitchen Table, which serves lots of delicious food and drinks.

As it is Halloween, kids (and grown ups too, if you’d like) are welcome to dress up in their costumes, and enjoy the seasonal activities. They also have the Pick Your Own Pumpkin event, where you can find your perfect pumpkin to take home and decorate.

Watch Something Scary at the Cinema…

One of the highlights of Halloween has to be the scary movies! In cinemas all over Hull, you can spend your Halloween night with a bucket of popcorn and a chill up your spine. Films such as Halloween Kills, Candyman, The Addams Family 2 and The Rocky Horror Show Live are available at Odeon, Vue and Reel.
