As the weekend’s heatwave begins to wane, the weather in Hull is once again pleasantly warm, sunny, and perfect for days out. We’ve put together yet another list of our favourite events around the city and beyond, to help you enjoy it! Pearson Park Live, Rapunzel, and The South Blockhouse’s Festival of Archaeology Open Day are fantastic open-air events, and if you need to escape the heat we have plenty of indoor offerings too, such as Shark Summer: Into the Jaws, and the Makers Market.

Just A Really Good Night Of Comedy

Pure Broadband has teamed up with the Comedy Lounge Hull, raising money for the local charity Hull and East Yorkshire Mind (HEYMind.) Founded in 1976, HEYMind has been supporting both adults and children with mental health problems for over 40 years.

Soundtrack of the Summer Party Night

Shark Summer: Into the Jaws

The Play That Goes Wrong

Saturday marks your last chance to see Mischief’s multi-award-winning international smash hit comedy The Play That Goes Wrong!

The Cornley Drama Society are putting on a 1920s murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong… does! As the accident-prone thesps battle on against all the odds to reach their final curtain call, hilarious results ensue!

Hailed “a gut-busting hit” by the New York Times, The Play That Goes Wrong, now in its seventh year in the West End, has won a host of celebrity endorsements from the likes of Joanna Lumley “We laughed until the tears ran down our faces, it has to be seen” to Ant & Dec “The funniest show we’ve seen! The South Blockhouse – Festival of Archaeology Open Day

Sat 23 Jul 2022 @ South Blockhouse

Built in the early years of the 1540’s Henry VIII’s South Blockhouse can be viewed as a mirror against which the worries and anxieties of British monarchs, as well as national and local governments, were reflected for nearly 400 years.

This year the people of Hull are spending the summer uncovering the story of this nationally important monument, and as part of the Festival of Archaeology, the site will be open to the public.

Makers Market

Craft & Flea is thoroughly excited to be returning to Hull on Saturday 23rd July.  This hugely popular makers’ market brings you the very best local creatives, collectors and independents all under one roof!
Hull Minster will be packed with the city’s best local producers, makers, designers and collectors for this one-day shopping experience.

Shoppers will be able to browse around 40+ stalls selling illustrations, plants and floristry, candles, jewellery, confectionery, collectibles, local art, retro homewares and more.

Pearson Park Live

Enjoy live music at the Pearson Park bandstand starting Saturday 23 July for ‘Pearson Park Live’, a FREE afternoon music session from 1-4 pm. Relax and enjoy great music from fabulous local artists!
This is the first of the event’s three dates, listed as follows:

Saturday 23rd July: The Mighty and the Moon, Farino, Happy Endings & Humber Harmony Chorus
Saturday 20th August: Quick Silver Kings, Ruth Scott & James Wood, Tim Mellins & The Ten Percenters & Imogen Hart

Scraffitto Dishes Workshop

Guest Potter – Suzie Reffold, of Leafy Lane Pottery, will lead you through an exciting workshop on the scraffitto method of slip decoration.

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn the techniques necessary to create a piece with an interesting and unique scraffitto style.

Tue 26 Jul – Sat 30 Jul 2022 @ Pearson Park

Absolutely Cultured presents Luminarium, a walk-in sculpture designed by Alan Parkinson of Architects Air that will invite visitors to explore a labyrinth of light and colour.

Luminarium is a family-friendly installation that has a calming effect on adults whilst encouraging children to think, question and explore. Taking inspiration from natural shapes such as soap bubbles, plant formations and organic cells, the interactive sculpture gives visitors the unique opportunity to enjoy a few minutes of mindfulness.
