It’s another exciting week in Hull, packed to the brim with amazing events. As always the Hull music scene is making sure there’s a fantastic range of live music gigs. As well as a delicious food and drink festival happening in East Park. There’s also a unique spell-binding adventure game happening on the streets of the city centre. Plus another great movie night over at Wrecking Ball. Check them all out below…

1. Saber Cruzer + Bella Ciao

18th August 2021 (Starts at 8pm)

“Saber Cruzer: Hull, East Yorkshire, England, Saber Cruzer take you on a ride through tone driven deserts and melodic sky’s. Formed in 2020 and having already released three singles, Saber Cruzer are a trio consisting of Alex Czapla, Bobbie Bell and Jack Brown. Soundsphere Magazine says – ‘We are big, big fans.’

Bella Ciao: Forged from previous members of Ming City Rockers, Baby Tooth and Psycle, debuted in June 2021, Bella Ciao are a grunge rock band based in Yorkshire.”

This Hull indie mega gig is going to be unmissable for anyone who loves indie music and local bands, grab a ticket here for this awesome event.

2. East Park Feastival

21st – 22nd August 2021 (starts at 1pm)

“Sample the delights of a wide range of local and regional food stalls and licenced bars. Entertainment includes live bands, acoustic acts and family comedy. Hosted by Hull’s own Andy Train. Food stalls and entertainment acts will be announced shortly.”

This is an 100% unmissable event for you and the family. If you want to enjoy yourself in East Park whilst having a walk, listening to some good music and sampling some even better cuisine, grab a ticket here.

3. Fast & Bulbous Saturday

20th August 2021 (2pm – 11pm)

“The magnificent Fast & Bulbous micro festival returns to The Adelphi for another year with an array of FABulous bands from all over the UK.

Get yourself strapped in and ready for another awesome all day festival at the Adeplhi. Fast and Bulbous, celebrating an impressive selection of underground bands from across the north of England and London.

4. Northern Soul & Motown Night

21st August 2021 (6pm – midnight)

“Northern soul and motown night at the vault.”

Make sure you have your flared jeans and your best shoes on because you’ll want to dance all night to the brilliant selection of music from records labels such as Stax, Motown and much more. Entry price is £5 on the door so you will not want to miss it.

5. Wrecking Ball Film Club: Selma

20th August 2021 (starts at 1pm)

“The film stars David Oyelowo as the iconic civil rights leader and tracks King’s struggle to secure voting rights for all people, culminating in the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and President Lyndon Johnson’s signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

6. Empty Trash: A performance by Stewart Baxter

19th August 2021 (7pm – 9pm)

“The artist and musician, Stewart Baxter, will be presenting an exciting new live audio installation, performed using a collection of ‘found’ sounds from across the city. Comprised of semi-improvised elements and pre-recorded sections, the performance aims to present sound in a way that challenges our perception of our everyday surroundings.

Inspired by the exhibition, Enjoy Civic Life, on display at Humber Street Gallery until September, which focuses on often overlooked signs and symbols within our built environment, Baxter will create an installation involving tape loops and other audio devices to present sounds from a familiar place back to us in unfamiliar ways.”

7. Hull Witchcraft & Wizardry

21st August 2021 (9am – 5pm)

“Wands at the ready detectives! A spell-binding new adventure game is coming to Hull on Saturday the 21st August 2021 – and your team of mystery-solving wizards can join the fun!

Transporting you into a fantasy world of witchcraft and wizardry, our enchanting outdoor adventure game will take your team on a magical journey all across town. Can your team of wizards unravel the mystery and crack the case in time?

You’re a wizard, hurry! Grab your ticket today and don’t miss out on the most fun-filled day you’ll have with your friends all year!”

8. The Importance of Being Ernest

20th August 2021 (starts at 7pm)

“Slapstick Picnic would like to cordially invite you to its inaugural summer tea party, where marvellous feats of performance and culinary capers await. Over tea and cucumber sandwiches, we ask that you prepare to witness the impossible – the entirety of Oscar Wilde’s classic play of manners, affairs and handbags being performed by just two rather dashing entertainers.

From the creators of The HandleBards comes a fantastically wild(e) new production, ripping up the recipe book and celebrating silliness. With Slapstick Picnic, you can have your cake and eat it.”

Anyone who wants to see a good event packed full of classic comedy and have lots of laughs, this is for you.

9. Freedom Festival 2021

Friday 20 August – Sunday 5 September

Everyone’s favourite festival is making a very welcome return this year! There are loads of events taking place across the city… this time over a 16-day period – longer than ever before!
