There’s a cosy Italian spot hidden away above St Stephen’s that’s easy to miss – but definitely worth a visit. Zizzi, up on the leisure terrace, is a great choice for a relaxed meal after a shopping trip or just before heading to the cinema.
Inside, it’s warm and welcoming, with stitched leather booths and a laid-back atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in. We called in for a midweek bite and were pleasantly surprised by how much variety was on the menu. From classic pizzas and pastas to lighter bites, there’s something for everyone – and lots of ways to customise dishes to suit your taste or dietary needs.
To start, we tried the Chorizo & Mozzarella Bombe – baked dough filled with melty cheese and spicy chorizo, finished with Roquito hot honey. Full of flavour and seriously moreish.
For mains, the Sticky Pig pizza was the standout – topped with pulled pork, ’nduja and crispy prosciutto, it had loads going on, but everything worked together perfectly. We also tried a vegan, gluten-free pizza with aubergine ‘meatballs’, jalapeños and harissa drizzle, and a gluten-free spag bol – both really tasty and well put together.
To finish, we shared the giant profiterole, served warm with rich chocolate sauce. A proper indulgent dessert, and definitely one for anyone with a sweet tooth.
If you’ve not given Zizzi a go in a while – or didn’t realise it was tucked away up there – it’s worth keeping in mind next time you’re in town.
