If you’re on the hunt for one of Hull’s best burgers, this spot is always near the top of the list. Dope Burger has become a bit of a local institution over the years – and for good reason.
Founded back in 2011 right here in Hull, Dope Burger started out on Anlaby Road with striking branding by Hull artist Si2. It’s grown massively since then, picking up a Britain’s Best Burger Takeaway award on BBC’s Britain’s Top Takeaways, and now has three locations across the city: a flagship site on Witham, another on Beverley Road, and a stall inside Trinity Market. They’ve even expanded to Doncaster and Leeds.
So how have they built such a reputation? Simple – they serve up ridiculously good food. Everything’s made with locally sourced ingredients from a butcher in Hessle, with creative combinations and flavours developed by chefs who seriously know their stuff.
There are juicy smash patty burgers like the Black and Blue (loaded with blue cheese and black treacle), Dope Fried Chicken burgers like the Big G Lick (with bacon fat chutney, garlic aioli and cheese), and plenty more to tempt you. The loaded fries are next-level, and the hotdogs – wrapped in grilled cheese – are just as wild. You’ll also find sweet treats like brownies, blondies and frozen milkshakes if you’ve got room for dessert.
It’s not just about the food either – their sauces are absolutely banging. The signature Dope sauce, maple baconnaise and garlic aioli are all stars in their own right. And if you’ve got dietary needs, you’re covered: the entire menu can be made gluten-free, with lots of veggie and vegan options available.
If you’ve not tried it yet, this is your sign to finally give it a go. Download the Dope Eats app before you visit too – they often run 2-for-1 deals and other offers that make it even better value.
