Working parents in Hull can now apply for 30 hours of funded childcare from September.
All eligible working parents of children who will be nine months old before 1 September can apply to access up to 30 hours of funded childcare a week.
This follows the successful rollout of 15 funded hours for children from 9 months last September.
The council anticipates that approximately 2,400 children aged two or under will be eligible for the expanded childcare offer.
A total of 4,500 families across the city could stand to benefit from the 30 hours of funded childcare, across all ages, until they start school.
Councillor Linda Tock, the portfolio holder for Children’s Services, said: “Our ambition is for Hull to be a great city to live and raise your family in.
“While take up in Hull is really positive, we want to encourage all eligible parents in Hull to apply and access the free provision available to them.
“Nursery settings give children the chance to explore and learn in a new environment, setting them up for formal education when they later begin school.”
