Alexandra Road to undergo reconstruction

Hull City Council is preparing to carry out essential maintenance work next month on Alexandra Road.

The work will improve the area of the existing carriageway between the junction of Beverley Road and Leonards Avenue.

The work intends to reconstruct the failed area of the carriageway, to ensure the highway provides a safe and even surface for traffic, and that it has adequate grip and skid resistance.

The work will start on Monday 5 February and is planned to take six weeks to complete – weather permitting.

To allow these works to be carried out safely they will be undertaken under a full road closure, with a diversion in place via Newland Avenue, Queens Road, Beverley Road, and Cottingham Road, depending on the direction of travel.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads, and Highways, said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the safety and quality of our road network, I am pleased to see this investment in Alexandra Road.

“This type of work is vital to ensure the longevity and reliability of our roads, as well as enhancing the overall driving experience for residents and visitors alike.

“We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient, and we thank residents and motorists for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out these works.”

The scheme has received funding from the Highways Capital budget with Major Projects, Culture, and Place budgets.

The work will be carried out by Wright Civil Engineering on behalf of Hull City Council.
