Social workers across Hull City Council’s Children and Family Services have been honoured as one of the ‘Amazing Social Workers’ being celebrated for World Social Work Month.

Many individuals and teams have been profiled as part of the British Association of Social Worker’s (BASW) annual celebrations.

The BASW is the UK’s professional membership organisation for social work.

Their ‘Amazing Social Workers’ campaign was launched as part of their annual World Social Work Month celebrations.

It provides the opportunity for us all to celebrate the incredible work that social workers do.

The honoured council staff include:

  • The Emergency Duty Team, who make up the ‘front door’ of children’s services in Hull
  • Andrew Smith, Team Manager in the assessment team
  • The Fostering Team, who provide support to the city’s foster carers
  • Clare Patrick, Student Social Worker
  • Jade Sexton, Social Worker
  • The Social Work Academy Team, who nurture all social workers
  • The Leaving Care Team, who provide support to those who have had experience in care
  • Sarah Axon and Yazzmine Mortimer, Practice Leads and Social Workers
  • Charlie Smith, Practice Educator
  • Janie Minter, Social Worker
  • The Children, Young People and Family Service

Read all about why they have been nominated on the BASW website.

Pauline Turner, Director of Children, Young People and Family Services said: “I’m so pleased to see so many of our fantastic teams and individuals being recognised for their incredible and vital work. They continue to go above and beyond to provide support to children and families in Hull, as well as educate the next generation of social workers.

“I’m proud to say they are an asset to the council and our city.”
