A new independent café has opened in west Hull, and it’s already becoming a favourite for those in the know – especially with everything on the menu coming in at under a tenner.
The AP Deli on Anlaby Road has transformed what was once an empty former dentist into a cosy and modern little spot. The owners of Anlaby Park Pub, Claire and Craig, spotted the opportunity, and decided to go for it, asking friend Leanne to run it.
Inside, you’ll find a counter filled with tempting homemade treats – from cake pots and brownies to colourful salads and fresh bakes. The menu covers everything from hot and cold sandwiches to omelettes, jacket potatoes, full breakfasts and more.

On our visit, we tucked into a hearty full breakfast (with toast that’s just right for dipping), a fluffy cheese and onion omelette, a roast chicken and stuffing sandwich with proper crispy roasties, a sweet chilli chicken sarnie, and a homemade quiche that hit the spot. There’s also a solid selection of both hot and cold drinks to go with it all.
The food’s all made fresh to order, the prices are genuinely affordable, and they’ve already secured a 5-star hygiene rating. It’s dog-friendly too – and they’re planning to add outdoor seating for the summer, which will make it an even better place to stop during a walk.

You’ll find The AP Deli at 1038 Anlaby Road, Hull, HU4 7RA.
They’re open 9am to 3pm every day, except Fridays and Saturdays when they open earlier from 8am.
Whether you’re after a proper breakfast, something lighter for lunch, or just fancy treating yourself to a homemade cake and coffee, this little gem is well worth checking out.
