A brand-new pizza spot has opened in Hull city centre and it’s unlike anything else you’ll find in the city. Archie’s Detroit Pizza is one of only three places in the entire country serving up proper Detroit-style pizza – and it’s well worth the hype.
The idea came from Phil, James and Jack. After Jack introduced the others to Detroit-style pizza and they fell in love with it, the trio decided Hull needed a slice of the action. We’re very glad they did.
So, what makes Detroit-style pizza different? The dough is focaccia-style – light, airy, almost like a huge crumpet – and it’s baked in a rectangular tin so the cheese caramelises around the edges to create a crispy golden crust. Archie’s makes everything fresh from scratch, and the result is doughy, cheesy perfection.
You’ll find Archie’s inside The Mission pub, a listed former chapel in the heart of the city. It’s a brilliant setting with a wide range of draught beers on the bar, free pool tables with your pint, and now an all-you-can-eat counter filled with Detroit-style pizza.
There are usually five pizzas on rotation, always with a vegan option, along with fresh salad, fries and pasta. If you fancy more, there are plenty of extras too – loaded fries, burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese bites, nuggets and other sides that hit the spot.
To top it all off, there’s an opening offer running right now: adults get 50% off all-you-can-eat, and kids eat free with a paying adult.
You’ll find it at The Mission, 11-13 Posterngate, Hull HU1 2JN, and opening times are as follows:
Monday 12–9 pm
Tuesday 12–9 pm
Wednesday 12–9 pm
Thursday 12–9 pm
