Avenues Ward transformed as part of Love Your Neighbourhood scheme

The Avenues area of Hull is the latest to receive a makeover as part of the ongoing Love Your Neighbourhood project.

As part of the citywide project, the Avenues Ward underwent a comprehensive tidy-up, between Monday 4 March and Sunday 17 March, leaving streets transformed and residents with a renewed sense of pride in their community.

Over the two-week period, the team carried out a range of clear-up tasks, including grass verge edging, grounds maintenance, and street cleaning.

The streets included were Ella Street, Victoria Avenue, Park Avenue, Westbourne Avenue, Marlborough Avenue, Richmond Street, Salisbury Street, Park Lane, Cave Street, Hudson Gardens, Park Road, Hinderwell Street, and Duesbery Street.

Residents have praised the work of the team and the difference they have seen in the look and feel of their neighbourhood.

Councillor Julia Conner, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “I am delighted to see such a positive transformation take place within the Avenues Ward. The tidy-up efforts have not only made the neighbourhood more appealing, but it has also brought the community together – with residents telling us how delighted they are with the work carried out.

“As well as caring for the environment, this project is about investing in local communities to bring them up to scratch, creating areas that people can feel proud about living in. It is very much a programme for the whole city.

“It is heartening to see the council invest in our environment and the well-being of our residents.”

Love Your Neighbourhood is the council’s new tidy-up programme, which will tackle small areas of the city one at a time.

The team will tidy each area over a two-week period, after which residents should see a noticeable difference in the look and feel of their neighbourhood.

The Love Your Neighbourhood team will continue its journey across Hull, tackling one area after another.
