The newly restored Hessle Mill and the Humber Bridge Country Park will be hosting a free ‘Awesome Autumn’ event for children and families, on Wednesday, 27 October, from 10am -4pm.

In and around the mill, there will be a bat trail, with a prize for the person who can find the most bats. There will also be autumn- themed storytelling and activity sheets and colouring-in, which young visitors can do on site or take home.

The mill will also be open for general visitors to explore over 200 years of history inside this unique industrial mill that was designed to crush chalk from the nearby quarry, which now forms the Humber Bridge Country Park.

This will be the final Activity Day of 2021 at Hessle Mill.

In the country park, with winter approaching, join in and help the wildlife on the nature reserve by building hibernation dens. The wildlife-friendly dens are made of logs, leaves, moss, sticks and twigs and they make brilliant homes for insects, amphibians and small mammals.

Set yourself a challenge and enjoy foraging in the woods to find your materials. And then create the best hibercaculum that you possibly can. Suitable for families who enjoy an outdoor adventure. The country park is right next to the mill, and the activity in the woods there is just a five minute walk away. Drop in anytime between 10am – 12pm, and 1pm – 4pm.

There is no need to book in advance for any of these activities.
