Barnes Way roundabout near Kingswood to be resurfaced in November

A busy roundabout in Hull will undergo much-needed repairs next month.

The road surface on Barnes Way, from Raich Carter Avenue to Barnes Way roundabout, is in poor condition and requires imminent resurfacing.

The scheme will involve resurfacing the existing carriageway, with a possible trench reinstatement, should investigation show the existing one has failed.

These works will rectify road surface failures and ensure a safe and skid-resistant surface for road users to travel on.

The improvement works will begin on Monday 13 November and are expected to take two weeks to complete – weather permitting.

The work will take place overnight from 7pm to 6am to minimise disruption. The road will remain open at all other times.

However, if a trench reinstatement is needed, a full road closure on the northbound leg of Barnes Way will be required at all times.

A diversion route will be in place via Raich Carter Way, Runnymede Way, Runnymede Avenue, and Barnes Road, depending on the direction of travel.

Access to businesses on both sides of Barnes Way roundabout will be maintained where possible.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads and Highways, said: “This roundabout is in very poor condition, so I am happy to hear that the resurfacing work will be carried out imminently.

“Not only does this work help us futureproof our road network, but it also helps keep the road safe for all users.

“We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient, and we thank residents and motorists for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out these works.”

The work will be carried out by Wright Civil Engineering Limited on behalf of Hull City Council.
