If you’re heading to the coast and fancy a laid-back drink and bite to eat, this rustic little spot in Hornsea is well worth a visit.
Baron Hartley is a cosy wine bar on Market Place, run by a local family with over 50 years of experience in wine and hospitality. They’re full of passion, creativity, and love for their community – and it shows in everything they do. Every bottle here is handpicked and personally tasted before it hits the shelves – because, in their own words, life’s too short to drink **** wine!
Their wine list spans the globe – from Italy and France to Portugal, Moldova, South Africa, Chile, and more. And if you’re not sure what to go for, the team’s always happy to guide you through the options.
They’re open Wednesday to Sunday, 12 till 9, serving up artisan sandwiches, melted cheese fondues, generous charcuterie boards, and proper hearty bites like their Ploughman’s – made with locally butchered ingredients, freshly baked bread, pickled onions, indulgent cheeses, and a classic scotch egg.

We tried their Wine Flight Platter with four carefully chosen wines and a stack of cheeses and meats – perfect for sharing. The Fondue was a favourite too, with warm soft bread to dip, and their Deli Stack Sandwich was packed with salami, creamy mozzarella, rocket, roasted peppers, olives, and pesto on fresh homemade focaccia.
They also champion local makers – from Yorkshire ciders, beers and lagers to homemade scotch eggs and locally grown honey.

You’ll find Baron Hartley at 12 Market Place, Hornsea HU18 1AP. They’re open Wednesday to Sunday, 12pm – 11pm.
