Hull City Council has announced that essential carriageway maintenance work will be carried out on Boulevard, from the junction of Witty Street to Hessle Road.
This scheme aims to renew the failed section of the carriageway, to ensure the road provides a safe and even surface for traffic, with adequate grip and skid resistance.
The maintenance work is scheduled to begin on Monday 14 April, and is expected to take just over two weeks to complete – weather permitting.
To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, the work will be carried out in the following two phases:
- Phase 1 (Monday 14 April to Monday 28 April):Â Carriageway reconstruction works at the junction of Boulevard and Witty Street. During this period, the road will be fully closed to through traffic, with diversions in place. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained.Â
- Phase 2 (Saturday 26 April to Monday 28 April): Carriageway resurfacing works between Witty Street and Hessle Road. The road will be closed between 4pm and midnight on Saturday 26 April and Sunday 27 April, and 6pm to midnight on Monday 28 April. Vehicle access for residents and businesses will be restricted during these times, and access arrangements will be managed on-site where possible.Â
Diversions will be in place for road users via Walcott Street, Strickland Street and Goulton Street.
Access for residents and businesses will be maintained where possible.
Pedestrian footways will not be affected by the closure, and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Gillian Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “This section of Boulevard requires essential repairs to ensure the road’s continued safety and longevity.
“In addition to enhancing our city’s road network, this scheme supports our shared community plan goal of creating safe and welcoming neighbourhoods for everyone.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and thank the community in advance for their patience, understanding, and support during these essential works.”
The scheme will be carried out by PBS Construction Limited on behalf of the council.
