Monday, 1 August is Yorkshire Day – and that’s the date of the next book group at Bridlington central library, at 1.30pm.

Book group members suggested that the session on Yorkshire Day should celebrate authors and for the library to display a selection of books, for members to choose from.

The group also felt it would be interesting to record the place of birth for some authors and they listed people they knew of collectively :

  • Barry Hines – Hoyland,
  • Brontes – Thornton
  • Winifred Holtby – Rudston
  • Susan Hill – Scarborough
  • Alan Bennett – Armley, Leeds
  • Kate Atkinson – York
  • Joanne Harris – Barnsley
  • Louise Beech – Hull
  • Michael Palin – Ranmoor, Sheffield
  • Val Wood – Castleford

Anybody is welcome to along to the Group on Monday, 1 August at 1.30pm at Bridlington Central Library and experience some fine writers.

Librarian Sarah Hutchinson said : “The book group at Bridlington Central is thriving, and we are very much looking forward to a special Yorkshire-themed session on Yorkshire Day! If you have any interest in reading, please do come along and join us!”
