Christmas Lights Switch-On, Queen Victoria Square, Hull

Hull’s big switch-on returns to Queen Victoria Square, marking the official start of the festive season. Expect special guests, live performances from the City Hall balcony, and a brilliant atmosphere as the lights go on.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, St Stephen’s, Hull

Thursday 20 November 2025, 5pm–8pm

St Stephen’s kicks off the festive season with the unveiling of its Christmas lights and a free community concert that fills the centre with seasonal cheer. The evening features performances from Collingwood Primary School and the All For One Choir, before rounding off with a lively soul, funk and Motown finale. The much-loved Christmas Market also returns from 20 November to 2 January, serving festive favourites like German sausages, waffles, hot chocolate and mulled wine. It’s a brilliant chance to enjoy live music, grab something tasty, and soak up the festive atmosphere right in the heart of the city.

Hull Christmas Weekend, City Centre

Saturday 29 November, 10am–4pm & Sunday 30 November 2025, 11am–4pm

Hull city centre will be bursting with festive cheer as a huge weekend celebration takes over the city streets. A bustling Christmas market will fill King Edward Street with stalls, street performers, food, live music, and panto on the main stage in Queen Victoria Square. Inside Princes Quay, there’ll be even more entertainment, while Whitefriargate leads the way to a Victorian Market in Trinity Square and Hull Minster on the Saturday. It’s a full weekend of festive fun for all ages — and the perfect way to kick off Christmas in Hull.

Flemingate Christmas Light Switch-On, Beverley

Friday 14 November 2025, 5:00pm–7:30pm

Flemingate’s much-loved light switch-on returns with a packed evening of festive entertainment, live music, and a spectacular firework display. The switch-on itself takes place at 6:45pm, followed by an eight-minute firework finale set to music. Expect plenty of festive cheer, a special visit from Father Christmas, and a brilliant community atmosphere to kick off Beverley’s Christmas celebrations.

Light Up Brid! Christmas Lights Switch-On, Bridlington

Sunday 30 November 2025, from 5:30pm

Bridlington’s town centre will sparkle once again as the Christmas lights are switched on along King Street and Manor Street. This year’s display features drawings created by local people, adding a personal touch to the festive lights. Everyone’s invited to join the fun, see whose designs made it into the display, and celebrate the start of the festive season together.

The Santa Claus Showtime, Trinity Market, Hull

Hull’s much-loved Santa Claus Showtime is back at Trinity Market, bringing free festive fun for families every Saturday in the run-up to Christmas. Expect singing, dancing, laughter and a festive trail through the market, complete with roaming performers and photo opportunities with Santa and his elves. It’s a brilliant community event that captures the joy of Christmas right in the heart of the city.

The Grinch Grotto, Hepworth’s Arcade, Hull

A new festive face is arriving in Hull – and he’s a little less jolly than Santa! The Grinch Grotto at Hepworth’s Arcade promises plenty of cheeky fun, mischievous moments and memorable photo opportunities. Santa Arrival Parade & Grotto, Princes Quay, Hull

Santa’s big arrival in Hull kicks off the city’s Christmas celebrations in style. The festive parade sets off from Hull New Theatre, with Santa and his helpers making their way through the city on a magical float before declaring his grotto open at Princes Quay. Families can then step inside a winter wonderland filled with twinkling lights, an enchanted elves’ village, and plenty of festive fun as little ones meet Santa and make Christmas memories to last all season. Just make sure to book your grotto visit in advance to secure your spot.

Victorian Christmas Weekend, Museums Quarter, Hull

Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 November 2025, 11am–4pm

Step back in time and experience the magic of a Victorian Christmas at Hull’s Museums Quarter. Wander through beautifully decorated galleries, meet costumed characters, and enjoy live performances, storytelling, and interactive fun for all ages. From taming the Naughty Christmas Tree to joining festive pantomimes and hearing brass bands and choirs, there’s plenty to see and do across the weekend. Most activities are free, though carousel rides are £3 per person, and advance booking is required for visits to Father Christmas at the Streetlife Museum.

Beverley Festival of Christmas, Beverley Town Centre

After last year’s cancellation, Beverley’s famous one-day Christmas market is back — and it’s bigger than ever. Across the town, three traditional Victorian markets will fill Saturday Market, North Bar, and Wednesday Market with over 120 stalls selling festive food, crafts, gifts, and more. Expect Santa’s parade with real reindeer from 10am, live brass and pipe bands, Victorian fairground rides, and a new Georgian Quarter market showcasing East Yorkshire’s local makers. From ice sculptures and birds of prey displays to carols at St Mary’s Church and family fun at the Guildhall, every corner of Beverley will be packed with festive cheer.

Just a short walk away, the Beverley Minster Christmas Tree Festival runs from 5–14 December, featuring over 150 beautifully decorated fir trees and a new wooden sleigh photo spot. With mulled wine, choirs, and twinkling lights filling the Minster, it’s the perfect extra stop while you’re in town for the Festival of Christmas.

Beverley Golf Club Christmas Market, Beverley

Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 December 2025, 10am–6pm

Beverley Golf Club’s festive weekend returns with a magical Christmas market inside a beautifully decorated marquee at The Clubhouse. Browse more than 40 stalls packed with unique gifts, enjoy children’s rides, live carols, and a special light switch-on, and meet real reindeer for a truly festive experience. Father Christmas will also be there, with each child’s visit including a gift and reindeer dust — but spaces are limited, so booking in advance is essential.

The Magic of Christmas at North Point Shopping Centre, Hull

Saturday 23 November – Tuesday 24 December 2025

Festive magic returns to North Point Shopping Centre with the arrival of Santa, his elves, and the glittering giant bauble grotto. Every child can visit Santa for free and receive a gift, making it a perfect family stop this Christmas. There’ll also be free face painting every weekend, adding to the fun with festive designs, plus North Point’s popular ‘12 Days of Christmas’ giveaways on Facebook and Instagram from 1–12 December. It’s all set to be a joyful season of surprises and sparkle in the heart of Bransholme.

Cobwebs and Cream Teas at Christmas, Burton Constable Hall, Skirlaugh

Step behind the scenes of Burton Constable Hall this Christmas for a guided tour through hidden cellars, attics, and rooftop spaces rarely open to the public. This unique experience also includes access to the parkland and stables, plus a self-guided walk through the Hall dressed for a traditional 1850s Christmas. The day ends with a cream tea or afternoon tea served in the Stables Kitchen — the perfect festive treat in a truly historic setting. Booking is essential, with limited spaces available on each tour.

Scandinavian Christmas Market, Danish Church, Hull

Hull’s beloved Scandinavian Christmas Market returns to the Danish Church, offering a warm and festive taste of Nordic tradition. Browse stalls filled with Scandinavian design, decorations, gifts, and homemade treats, or stop by the café for open sandwiches, Danish pastries, and freshly baked cakes. Christmas Craft Fair, Burton Constable Hall, Skirlaugh

Burton Constable Hall’s Christmas Craft Fair brings together a great mix of local businesses inside The Riding School, with stalls selling homemade sweets, handcrafted gifts, jewellery, clothing, and plenty of unique festive finds. Entry is just £1 per family or group, with free admission and parking on site, and the event is dog-friendly too, making it an easy, relaxed way to start your Christmas shopping.

Lord Mayor’s Christmas Tree Festival, Hull Minster, Hull

Tuesday 2 – Wednesday 24 December 2025

Hull Minster will once again sparkle with festive lights as the Lord Mayor’s annual Christmas Tree Festival returns. Over 50 beautifully decorated trees will fill the church, creating a stunning display open for all to enjoy throughout December. The festival is officially opened by the Lord Mayor and Reverend Dominic Black on 2 December at 11am, and anyone can take part by sponsoring and decorating a tree, with donations supporting the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal Fund. HUBS Christmas Market, University of Hull, Cottingham Road, Hull

Hull University Business School’s HUBS Christmas Market is back, celebrating creativity, community, and entrepreneurship. Visitors can browse a range of handcrafted gifts and festive treats made by students, alumni, and local entrepreneurs — from art and jewellery to candles and sweet bakes. The much-loved Sewerby Winter Woodland returns for its fifth year, transforming the clifftop grounds of Sewerby Hall into a dazzling world of lights, sound, and festive storytelling. This year’s theme, The Snowman’s Ball, invites visitors to join the magical preparations for the Snowman’s grand celebration, meeting cheerful characters like the Woodcutter, Snow Fairy, and the Sewerby Snowman along the way.
