In the picturesque village of Woodmansey near Hull, the Coletta and Tyson Garden Centre has long been a favourite destination for garden enthusiasts and food lovers alike.
Owned and operated by the Coletta family since the 1960s, the centre has seen many evolutions and expansions over the years. However, its latest offering, a revamped menu at the Old Glasshouse Café, promises to be its most exciting development yet.

The Coletta family’s journey began over a century ago when Luigi and Crestina Coletta arrived in Hull from the small Italian village of Cervaro near Monte Casino. Over the years, the family expanded its business footprint from small shops and grocery stores to the thriving garden centre it is today.
And recently, The Old Glasshouse Café unveiled its new menu, which draws inspiration from the family’s Italian heritage. Customers will be delighted to find a mouth-watering selection of dishes that showcase the rich culinary traditions of both Yorkshire and Italy.
Among the highlights are the mouthwatering baked spinach and ricotta penne, the light and delicious Caprese salad, their homemade Italian sausage rolls, the flavourful and filling Roma burger, and their special homemade Old Glasshouse lasagne. The pièce de résistance of the new menu is the new garlic chicken stromboli, a pizza-esque dish that is sure to win over hearts and stomachs alike.

The café’s updated menu is a testament to the Coletta family’s storied history and their deep connection to their Italian roots. John and Paul Coletta, the current custodians of the family business, have worked tirelessly with talented head chef Lee to create a dining experience that honours their ancestors’ legacy and celebrates the rich cultural tapestry that defines their family.
In addition to the fantastic cafe, the adjacent Old Glasshouse Deli offers a wide range of Yorkshire and Italian foods, as well as homemade savoury and sweet snacks made fresh daily on the premises. With an extensive selection of treats to eat in or take home, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The Coletta and Tyson Garden Centre’s Old Glasshouse Café invites you to come and experience their new menu and rediscover the rich culinary history of the Coletta family.
The café is located inside the garden centre on Hull Road, Woodmansey. You can see the menu on their website and Facebook.
