Environmentally friendly, bamboo wristbands for the region’s biggest emerging music festival, Humber Street Sesh, will go on sale on Saturday.

The biodegradable wristbands are available to purchase, or exchange with an advanced purchased online ticket, every Saturday from Social on Humber Street from 12 noon – 11pm, from Saturday May 13th, and every day during the week prior to the festival day on August 12th.

People who purchase or exchange wristbands on a Saturday will be allowed free entry that evening to Humber Street Live, the weekly live music night at Social. Festival organisers hope to encourage people to get their wristbands early to avoid queuing on the festival day.

Sponsored by the University of Hull, the bamboo wristbands were first introduced in 2022, as part of the festival organisers’ pledge, as fellow members of the Oh Yes! Net Zero campaign, to improve their green credentials year on year.

Mark Page, Festival Director said “We are grateful to the University of Hull for their continued sponsorship of the Main Stage and the bamboo wristbands, enabling us to provide a platform for emerging music and supporting us in making the event more environmentally sustainable. “

“This year we celebrate 10 years on Hull Marina and we’re increasingly mindful of sustainable practice so we can all enjoy events for years to come.”

Following a remarkable sell-out festival last year, Humber Street Sesh will celebrate a decade on Hull Marina on August 12th 2023, with some special touches planned to mark this milestone.

Replicating last year’s festival site footprint, with a free fringe area on Humber Street, this year’s festival will showcase over 100 acts, and shine a light on emerging artists, as well as a few aspirational acts from further afield invited to join the party.

The festival will continue to offer family fun, with the much-loved Silent Disco and Team Extreme Skate Park, Hip Hop Amphitheatre with Beats Bus, ScrapStore Creative Arts Marquee, photography exhibitions, flash mob dances and street entertainers.

Humber Street Sesh 2023 will take place on Hull Marina on Saturday, August 12th, 12 pm – 11pm.
