The Falcon Inn in Withernwick has been run by Beth and Matt Marshall since 2020. Having lived in the village for more than twenty years, they took on the pub with the aim of restoring it as the heart of the community – and from what we’ve seen, they’ve done just that.
When we visited, locals were dropping in for a pint and a chat, while visitors travelling between Beverley and the seaside were making the most of a warm and welcoming stop-off. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are really friendly, and it’s one of those places where you feel right at home as soon as you walk through the door.
The menu is full of hearty favourites. Their Sunday lunches are hugely popular, but we went for the Mighty Falcon Burger – a giant plateful that was every bit as delicious as it was filling – and their famous steak pie, which has become a real signature dish. The Falcon Kebab, served with a punchy Bang Bang sauce, was another standout, and the Falcon Mixed Grill offered a generous and tasty twist on a pub classic. Everything is homemade, the portions are big, and the quality shines through in every dish.
If you’ve still got room afterwards, the desserts are just as tempting. From sticky toffee pudding and Bakewell tart to their impressive selection of cheesecakes, each one is well worth saving space for. Pair it with a pint from their fantastic range of ales and draught drinks, and you’ve got the perfect country pub experience.
