The former Chief Executive of The Historic Dockyard Chatham has visited the city to learn more about the plans to transform some of the Hull’s maritime treasures.
Bill Ferris, who was at Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust for 19 years visited Hull on Thursday 11 August to hear about the ambitious plans and the progress to date.
Over the past two decades, Bill led capital development projects totalling £47m and secured more than £40m investment from external sources to support major projects and won countless awards.
As part of his visit, he along with Nick Rochford from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, met the team behind Hull Maritime, as well as visiting the sites being transformed as part of the investment, including Hull Maritime Museum and the two ships, Arctic Corsair and Spurn Lightship.
Bill also gave great insight and advice on the maximising opportunities in making Hull Maritime a first-class experience for both residents and visitors.
Councillor Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, said: “It is always great to be part of putting Hull on the map for the right reasons. The developments taking place to transform our Maritime Museum and two historic ships will build on our city’s proud heritage, and create a new experience for people who live here and those who come to visit.”

Bill has also offered to facilitate a visit to Chatham by the Hull team to help with their planning for re-opening and operations once the project is complete.
