A huge range of free children’s activities are now available to book over the Christmas holidays.

Funded by the Department for Education and Hull City Council, the activity programme is back with a bang, with camps starting Monday 19 December.

Free bookable holiday camps are back for eight–13-year-olds. These camps are a perfect way for children stay active on the run up to Christmas with a range of activities including rounders, dance, gymnastics and rugby provided daily, alongside a free hot lunch. The camps take place across Woodford Leisure Centre, Ennerdale Leisure Centre and Costello Stadium on various days from Monday 19 to Friday 23 December.

Ever-popular free junior swimming sessions return to Woodford, Ennerdale and Beverley Road Baths for children aged five–15 years. Please note under-eights must be accompanied by a paying adult. Check out session times and download a free entry voucher here. No booking is required.

More water fun can be found for five–11-year-olds in fun, float and splash sessions at Beverley Road Baths on Wednesday 21 and Wednesday 28 December – 2.15pm to 3.15pm. Children are free and accompanying adults are just ÂŁ1. Book here.

A free disco dive session will also return to Woodford Friday 23 December for eight–15 year olds including waves and music. Book a place here.

Short indoor family tennis sessions will be available at Costello Stadium Tuesday 20 and Thursday 22 December, ÂŁ1 per adult with children going free. Book your court here.

A free netball camp led by England Netball is back at Ennerdale on Tuesday 20 December from 9am to 12pm. Available for children aged eight to 12 years with food included, book your place here.

Throughout the Christmas holidays, the Animal Education Centre will also be hosting a number of free and low-cost activities for families including a Christmas trail, zoo keeper talks and Christmas crafts where children can create Christmas baubles and magical reindeer food. Visit the website for more information and dates.

For more festive fun, Hull Ice Arena is open across the holidays, with public, family, under-seven and SEN sessions available. Find out more about available sessions here.

Councillor Rob Pritchard, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Culture, said: “The Christmas holidays are a wonderful time of year for families, but we know can be difficult for parents and carers to find affordable activities for children. This is only amplified by the current cost of living crisis.

“These activities offers a whole host of free and affordable activities to suit children and young people, including healthy hot food.

“Wherever you are in Hull, there are activities in your area and there really is something for everyone.”

Councillor Alison Collinson, Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd (HCAL), said: “We look forward to welcoming families from across Hull into our fantastic centres and facilities across the holidays.”
