If you’ve walked down Whitefriargate or Humber Street and thought you’d seen everything Hull city centre has to offer, think again. We’ve rounded up five hidden gems that are easy to miss but well worth checking out—whether you fancy being creative, competitive, or just want to enjoy a drink with a view.
Hull Minster Tower Tour
📍 South Church Side, Hull, HU1 1RR
🕰 Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–4pm; Sunday 9am–12 noon

This has to be one of the most unique things to do in Hull. Climb 170 narrow spiral steps to reach the top of Hull Minster, passing the bell room and clock mechanism on the way. At the top, you’ll get panoramic views across the city and Humber, and there’s even a working post box up there—the highest in Hull. Tower tours usually run around 2pm and need to be booked in advance.
Game of Throwing
📍 4 Dock Street, Hull, HU1 3DL
🕰 Open Monday to Friday 11:30am–8:30pm, Saturday 10am–10pm, Sunday 11:30am–8:30pm

Right near the Old Town, this high-energy spot is all about axe-throwing—but with a digital twist. You’ll get a demo from the team before diving into interactive games that test your skill and accuracy. Score over 45 and you’ll land a spot on the Bully Board. They also do a same-day deal where you can get half-price access to their escape rooms if you fancy doubling the fun.
Pots on Pier Street
📍 3–4 Pier Street (just off Humber Street), Hull, HU1 1ZA
🕰 Open Wednesday 2pm–6pm, Thursday 11am–6pm, Friday 11am–9pm, Saturday 10am–6pm, Sunday 11am–5pm (by appointment only on Monday and Tuesday)
This relaxed pottery-painting studio is a brilliant way to spend a couple of hours. There’s no studio fee—just choose what you want to paint, with prices starting from £6. You’ll find everything from mugs and trophies to octopuses and vases. There’s a café inside too, serving cakes and drinks, and they also run late-night paint sessions and BYOB evenings.
Humber Street Gallery
📍 64 Humber Street, Hull, HU1 1TU
🕰 Open Wednesday, Friday–Sunday 10:30am–5pm; Thursday 12pm–7pm (closed Monday and Tuesday)

This one’s easy to walk past, but it’s well worth going inside. As well as a rooftop terrace and café bar, Humber Street Gallery is home to thought-provoking exhibitions and the famous Dead Bod sign. Grab a coffee or a cocktail from the bar downstairs, take in the view from the rooftop, and pop into the shop for some brilliant local art and Hull-themed gifts.
The Boardroom
📍 20 Pier Street, Hull, HU1 1ZA
🕰 Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12pm–11pm

Tucked just behind Humber Street, The Boardroom puts a high-tech spin on classic pub games. Their interactive dartboards come with digital displays and fast-paced challenges that are perfect for groups—once you get started, it’s hard to stop.
