Hull Central Library hosting live music event this Sunday

Live music is returning to Hull Central Library, with a visit from singer-songwriter Willie J Healey, as part of Get It Loud in Libraries, in partnership with Hull Libraries.

Now on his third album, the indie, funk and soul singer Willie J Healey will play a special matinee session at the library as part of his 2024 UK tour.

Having collaborated with Jamie T, as well as appearances supporting Florence + the Machine and Arctic Monkeys, Willie J Healy will bring music from his new album ‘Bunny’ to the library on Sunday 12th May at 2:30pm.

Touted as a ‘one to watch’ in the Guardian, the Oxfordshire-born singer has received 4-star reviews for his 2023 album from Far Out Magazine and DIY Magazine, as well as being named as an album of the year in 2023 by BBC Radio 6.

Hull Libraries have been working with Get It Loud in Libraries for six years, hosting a mixture of live music acts from a variety of genres. Bands such as Sunflower Bean, The Anchoress and Panic Shack, have rocked the stacks with their live sets.

Get It Loud in Libraries brings audiences of all ages the rare chance to get up close and personal with their favourite artists, previously hosting acclaimed musical acts including Adele, Self Esteem and Wolf Alice.

Michelle Alford, Libraries Services Director for Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd, said: “We’re really excited to be playing host to Willie J Healey as part of another Get It Loud in Libraries gig. These events offer a really unique opportunity for music fans to enjoy live music in an unusual setting. This performance is also really accessible for all the family, with free entry for under nines.”
