Council seeks public input on parklet relocation

Hull City Council is inviting residents and local businesses to help shape the future of six city centre parklets currently located along Princes Dock Street.

These prefabricated parklets, originally introduced to support nearby businesses by providing additional outdoor seating, have become popular spaces for socialising.

However, they will be removed at the end of summer to enable the next phase of improvement works on Princes Dock Street.

To ensure these valuable community assets continue to benefit the city, the council is launching a survey – which includes a city-wide interactive map – to gather ideas for potential new locations and suggestions for how the parklets could be best used in the future.

While permanent locations are preferred, proposals for temporary or trial sites are also welcome.

Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “We know how much people value these spaces and how successful they have been, that’s why we’re keen to hear from the public and local businesses about where these parklets could go next.

“Whether it’s a bustling high street, a quiet neighbourhood, or a community hub, we want to make sure these spaces continue to serve the people of Hull.”

The survey will be open from Friday 29 August to Monday 27 October, and can be accessed here.
