Hull Eats: The new Italian restaurant with the perfect picturesque setting

Right in the heart of East Yorkshire, a homegrown food star is getting some well-deserved attention. The restaurant chain Pasco’s Italian already has two popular locations—one in Cottingham and the other at St Andrews Quay in Hull. Now, a third one has joined the crew. Each is the brainchild of owner and manager James Anderson, a real pro in the restaurant business thanks to his time working with the Whitbread Group. These are the guys behind big names like Beefeater, Table Table, and Brewers Fayre. We were lucky enough to be invited by James himself to try out his latest spot, tucked away in the middle of Heron Lakes Holiday Park.

Heron Lakes, with its clean-cut lawns and sparkling lakes, makes a picture-perfect home for the newest Pasco’s. It’s smack in the middle of the park, with a gorgeous view of one of the big lakes. The restaurant fits right in with this beautiful setting, promising—and delivering—a meal to remember.

Customers have been raving about the Cottingham and Hull restaurants, which gave us high hopes for the new place. And we weren’t disappointed—the food was absolutely amazing.

We kicked off our meal with two seriously yummy starters. The Bruschetta al Salmone (£9.40) was a hit, with crispy toasted bread piled high with loads of mozzarella cheese, tasty marinated tomatoes, and strips of smoked salmon. The Salsiccia Calabrese (£8.25) was just as good—spicy Italian sausage spread on toasted ciabatta bread, topped with fresh marinated chopped tomatoes.

Next up were the main courses, the Pollo con Pancetta (£15.55) and Grilled Fillet Steak with a bonus splash of Gorgonzola steak sauce (£18.10), plus a side order of house fries. Both were delicious. The juicy chicken breast cooked up with bacon strips, mushrooms, white wine, and cream, and the classic steak, cooked with tomato, mushrooms, and onion rings, were both top-notch.

We couldn’t resist the cheesy garlic bread, which was as tasty as it sounded. It was also super fresh, which makes sense since James told us they make the dough fresh every day.

When we asked James how he manages to keep the food so great at all his restaurants, he told us it’s all about the training. His experienced chefs train up the newbies, who then get moved to the new restaurants to keep the food quality consistently high.

What makes Pasco’s even more special is its upcoming outdoor seating area. This summer, James plans to set up a large pizza oven and barbecue, turning the location into a hub for special nights. Picture it: fresh pizza and sizzling barbecue, all while overlooking a serene lake.

In a nutshell, Pasco’s Italian is a must-visit addition to East Yorkshire’s food scene. It offers a great location and a menu full of dishes that impress with their freshness, looks, and taste. Pasco’s Italian at Heron Lakes Holiday Park is proof of James Anderson’s years of experience and dedication to top-quality food. It’s a food lover’s dream that you won’t want to miss.
