Hull Fair returns to the city for 2021 after being cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic- the first time the fair had been cancelled in decades.
The fair was given the greenlight to go ahead in August after the government removed all Coronavirus restrictions, including those on large gatherings.
Europe’s oldest and largest fair returns to Hull on Friday 8 October, until Saturday 16 October – excluding Sunday 10 October.
With over 250 rides, attractions and fair games, there’s no wonder why Hull Fair is one of the city’s biggest and most popular traditions.
The fair’s rides are located in Walton Street car park with food vendors (such as Bob Carvers) sprawling all the way from Spring Bank to Anlaby Road.
Hull Fair is perfect for all ages, with sky-scraping rides fit for any adrenaline junkie, as well as some gentler rides for younger patrons.
Some new rides will make their way to the fair this year including KMG Extreme and Snow Jet, as well as some old favourites such as Waltzers and the Sky Swing.
One of the most exciting additions this year is the Star Flyer which is one of the tallest rides in the country, measuring in at 55m high – the tallest ride to ever come to Hull Fair.
Attractions typically cost around £1-£1.50 with the bigger rides costing around £3-£4. A big change for 2021 is the introduction of contactless payment for those who don’t want to carry cash to the fair – however it is recommended to bring cash just in case.
Whilst there is car parking available on site, and around the area, it is recommended to take public transport – you can plan your route with Stagecoach or East Yorkshire.
And obviously, Coronavirus hasn’t disappeared – the council have offered their advice for those who are attending this year which includes wearing a mask in any enclosed/crowded spaces, washing/sanitising hands frequently, taking a test before visiting the fair, and most importantly, being double jabbed.
