Hull roadworks: micro-surfacing programme announced for 30 streets

Roads across Hull are about to receive a much-needed facelift as part of an annual micro-surfacing programme.

The city-wide micro-surfacing programme is set to start on Monday 29 April, with 30 roads included, and is due to be completed on Friday 24 May – weather permitting.

This programme aims to enhance the quality of the mainly residential roads, which are now starting to show signs of deterioration.

Micro-surfacing will remove any existing shallow defects, such as potholes and cracking, while sealing up the road to water ingress. This will help to improve the condition and safety of Hull’s roads for residents, commuters and visitors.

Road closure notices have been put up and letter drops will be carried out two weeks prior to the works starting on each site. The contractor will also be posting leaflets with more information for residents.

Garry Taylor, Assistant Director of Major Projects, Culture and Place, said: “We apologise for the disruption these works may cause to some residents, but we strive to minimise disruption and keep residents informed as much as possible.

“These vital works will make our roads better and safer in the long term, benefitting all road users in the city.”

The roads that are included as part of the programme, as well as the proposed dates are listed below. Please note, these dates are subject to change:
