You can roll your own stick of rock, at a brilliant factory tour just outside Bridlington!
John Bull has been making sweets and treats since 1911 and remains a proud family business today, now run by the fourth generation. It’s one of those places where tradition and craft are still very much alive, and you get to see it all in action.
The tour takes you right through the working factory, with the chance to see the biscuit room, the chocolate room, the packing line, and of course, the secrets of rock making. Kids will love spotting the letters hidden in the displays along the way, which spell out one of the secret ingredients that makes the famous rock so delicious.
It’s not just about watching, either. Visitors can roll their very own stick of rock with their initial inside and decorate a chocolate lolly and bar to take home. With samples to taste throughout, and the incredible smell of chocolate and sugar in the air, it’s an experience that’s hard to beat.

What really makes the place special is the people. Many of the staff have been with John Bull for years, and families often return with children and grandchildren, greeted by the same friendly faces they remember from their own visits.
Once the tour is over, kids can run off some energy in the indoor play area, while grown-ups can browse the shop full of handmade Yorkshire gifts or grab something tasty from the café before heading home.
