Newland Avenue is a cultural hub, filled to the brim with fantastic, local-run restaurants, cafes, and bars, serving up fresh food and amazing drinks. I’ve been a Newland Avenue resident for around 6 years now; from moving into my first student house down Alexandra Road to today, Newland Avenue has been the backdrop for many great times in my life. You could spend a whole day eating, drinking, and shopping without even needing to leave the avenue. Newland Avenue has become on of my favourite places, and I recommend it to anyone who hasn’t been before.

Here’s my ultimate food guide to Newland Avenue’s amazing restaurants, cafes, and bars from top to bottom (or bottom to top, it’s all a matter of perspective)…

Craft and Dough

179 Newland Ave, Hull HU5 2EN

Craft and Dough has been a Hull What’s On favourite for a while now. Their unique, by-the-meter pizza is an unforgettable experience and is the perfect place for casual dining. They have more than enough toppings and sides to keep you fed, plus they have a fantastic bar full of craft beers and a range of competitively priced cocktails. Outdoor and indoor dining is available and takeaway is an option via JustEat.

Aunt Bibby’s

179 Newland Ave, Hull HU5 2EN

Just next door to Craft and Dough (they even share a bar!) is Aunt Bibby’s. You may remember Aunt Bibby’s Smokehouse down Princes Avenue, well they’re back but with a brand new concept. This American style sports hall serves food, cocktails, craft ale and beers, which can be enjoyed alongside a range of games including pool, shuffle board, darts. Plus they show all of the biggest sporting events across the globe.
