If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in the sunshine this week, Nu Bar in Willerby has just added a whole new selection of dishes to their menu – and they’re absolutely worth checking out.
Since opening back in 2013, Nu Bar has built a solid reputation for great food, quality drinks, and its south-facing outdoor terrace that’s made for sunny days. Now, they’ve taken things up a notch with a fresh menu full of comforting favourites and global flavours.
We started things off with a refreshing Long Island Iced Tea, a mocktail, and a cold pint, before tucking into a trio of standout starters. The loaded Cajun chicken nachos were packed with flavour, the homemade pork nduja meatballs brought a nice bit of heat, and the haddock fishcake with garlic mayo was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Their prawn cocktail, served with a modern twist, also hit the mark.
For mains, the chicken au poivre with fondant potato and brandy peppercorn sauce was a clear highlight – rich, warming and full of flavour. The BBQ beef kebabs came straight from the grill and were made for eating in the sunshine, while the garlic and rosemary chicken thighs had that perfect smoky, charred taste.
Vegan options were just as strong, with the spicy vegan beef tacos offering a proper kick, and the salmon aloo gobhi – a bold, hearty dish – really stood out too. We also tried the Italian meat feast pizza, which was loaded and perfectly baked.
To round things off, we shared two desserts – a strawberry & prosecco cheesecake and a honeycomb chocolate cheesecake. Both were light, creamy, and the perfect end to a top-notch meal.
If you haven’t been to Nu Bar in a while, this new menu is a brilliant reason to head back. Whether you’re after a laid-back lunch, a catch-up with mates, or a relaxed evening in the sun, it’s definitely one to put on your list.
It’s open from 10:30 am to 11 pm Sunday-Thursday, and 10:30 am to 12 midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. You can find it at 149-151 Kingston Rd, Willerby, Hull HU10 6AL.
