If you’re after something a bit different for your next night out, Olympus Greek Restaurant on Boothferry Road in West Hull is a brilliant choice. Their regular Greek nights deliver amazing food, drinks, dancing, live music – and yes, even the thrill of plate smashing.
These fun-filled evenings take place on the last Sunday of each month, but they’ve added an extra one this July on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th, so they’re even easier to catch.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric – a live Greek band had everyone smiling, and before long, the whole place was up dancing, singing and smashing plates in true Greek style.
The Meze feast is stellar: creamy tzatziki, hummus, feta dip with warm pitta, spinach and feta parcels, dolmas, and grilled halloumi. Then you pick two mains – we chose chicken and lamb skewers, stuffed kofte, Greek sausage, and a halloumi-and-veg skewer. All served with chips, crisp Greek salad and even more pitta. Every bite packed that bold, authentic flavour you hope for.
For dessert, baklava and orange pie were on the menu – both utterly delicious and sweetly satisfying.
On the drinks front, we enjoyed white wine, Mythos beer, a refreshing mojito and Loux – a Greek soft drink that was spot‑on for a warm evening. If you’re feeling adventurous, Olympus also serves Greek spirits like Tsipouro and Ouzo.
At just £37 per person, that includes the full Meze and entertainment – and the staff were genuinely lovely and attentive throughout.
