If you’re looking for a perfect day out this summer, you have to try picking your own sunflowers at Sandy Bottom Farm, a stunning family-run farm near Hedon.
Known for its fantastic pumpkin festival, the farm has transformed this summer into a sea of golden yellow, with around 200,000 sunflowers in full bloom, creating a breath-taking backdrop for a day of fun and exploration.
Right now, you can wander through the sunflower fields and pick your own to take home. Bring your own secateurs, or pick some up on-site, and don’t forget to explore the border of beautiful wildflowers you can pick too. The kids absolutely loved hunting for the perfect flowers, and it’s a great way to introduce little ones to the joys of nature.
Beyond the flowers, there’s so much to keep everyone entertained. From photo spots and play areas to pedal tractors, hay bales, and a bouncy castle, there’s no shortage of fun. Kids can dive into the giant new sandpit, and there’s even face painting to add to the excitement.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, the farm has plenty of delicious options to satisfy you. We treated ourselves to mouth-watering cheeseburgers and incredible Oreo and Dubai Chocolate waffle wands from Darcie’s Delights. If you’re after something sweet, Mr Moo’s ice cream, fresh strawberries, and cookies are perfect for rounding off an amazing day out. And for a caffeine fix, there’s barista coffee to keep you refreshed.
Entry to Sandy Bottom Farm is just £5 per person, which includes three sunflowers each. If you’d like more, extras are only £1 per flower. Wildflowers are priced by the bunch, and under-5s can join in for free.
They’re open throughout August Fri 15th – Sun 17th and Fri 22nd – Mon 25th, 10:00am – 4:00pm, weather permitting. The farm is located at Thorn Road, Hedon, Hull, East Yorkshire, United Kingdom, HU12 8BB. Booking in advance is recommended, and tickets can be purchased on the farm’s website or via their social media pages for your convenience.
