We recently had the opportunity to dine at Sparta, the newly unveiled Greek food counter located within OneStop on Silver Street!
Now, we know what you’re thinking: “Greek food in a OneStop?” but trust us, this is not your ordinary pit stop. Brought to life by its Turkish proprietors, Sparta serves an array of Greek-inspired culinary delights including gyros wraps, chicken noodle boxes, and scrumptious halloumi fries. The venue transcends its convenience store setting, offering an authentic experience that’s perfect for a grab-and-go lunch if you’re nearby.
The first thing we got to try was one of their chicken gyros wraps. This classic Greek street food showcased tender pieces of chicken, complemented by a rich tzatziki sauce, ripe tomatoes, and crisp onions, all enveloped in a warm pitta. For those seeking a less messy, more contained dining option, Sparta also provides a gyros box which we also tried, featuring the same ingredients neatly presented for easier consumption. The box offers a convenient yet no less flavorful alternative to the traditional wrap!
Additionally, we had the pleasure of sampling Sparta’s halloumi fries, which rank among the best we’ve encountered in Hull. These fries are expertly crafted – much crispier on the exterior than we’re used to, which is fantastic – while maintaining a succulent softness within. Beyond Greek offerings, the venue also serves noodles, which we tried in the form of a chicken noodle box. This dish harmoniously blended chicken, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and an assortment of vegetables including broccoli, carrots, and onions. It was an articulate expression of how Sparta effortlessly straddles culinary traditions.
From the variety and quality of the dishes to the attentive service, Sparta has left an indelible impression. We’ll be popping by often since it’s right by our office, and we wouldn’t be surprised if more nearby workplaces start popping by for a hearty lunch! We definitely recommend it.
