Several Orchard Park streets to undergo essential reconstruction

Several streets across Orchard Park in Hull will undergo essential reconstruction from next week, to provide much-needed improvements to the footpaths.

As part of the council’s investment in the city’s footpaths, improvements and reconstruction works will take place within the footways of Lingcourt, Nashcourt, Orniscourt, and Palmcourt.

The improvements will involve resurfacing and reconstructing areas of the footpaths which have deteriorated. Once finished the newly improved footpaths will provide a safe and even surface for local residents.

Works are scheduled to begin on Monday 18 March and are expected to take approximately six weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The footpaths are currently in a deteriorated state.

To reduce the impact on residents the work will be carried out in separate stages on the following dates:

Phase one: Orniscourt – Monday 18 March to Thursday 28 March

Phase two: Lingcourt – Tuesday 2 April to Wednesday 17 April

Phase three: Nashcourt and Palmcourt – Thursday 18 April to Wednesday 1 May

To allow these works to be done safely, they will be undertaken under footpath closure. However, access will be maintained for residents.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads, and Highways at Hull City Council, said: “These works are essential to repair and maintain the surface of the footpaths, to stop them falling into poor condition.

“The council is focused on ensuring the city’s footpaths are safe and well-maintained, and we hope residents will welcome this investment in their local area.”

The scheme will be funded by Hull City Council’s Capital Footway Programme and carried out by PBS Construction Limited on behalf of the Council.
